Low sales of Sony Playstation 3 caused lay-offs?
Some workers at Sony’s facilities in Foster City, Calif., may soon be looking for new work. On Thursday, the company announced a round of layoffs from its U.S.-based game unit. The company wouldn’t say how many are leaving and did not shoulder the blame on the PlayStation 3’s relatively weak market performance, which has trailed that of Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
Not the type of news that we want to wake up to but this a hard truth. It is obvious that when the overly hyped Playstation 3 did not meet expectations, Sony has to make the appropriate measures. The sad thing though is, nobody ever thought this could this worse.
PS3 did not deliver much of the revenue that it was supposed to deliver because of the presence of more interesting video consoles like the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo’s piece was quite fascinating as it allows users to flex those muscles while having a good time. Compare that with PS3’s sedentary experience, of course, Wii is way much better.
Cause and effect. That’s all there is to it. I wonder if those employees who are thinking about getting plastic surgery could pay their Fort Myers plastic surgeon now.
