The Apple iPhone
Mobile phones have been quite similar in many ways despite their diversity in features. Let’s start with the very obvious similarities. Firstly, they have screens, which are by the way getting larger and larger in new models. Secondly, they all have keypads, which also come in different styles depending on what the manufacturer’s set of designers have managed to come up with in dire need to get ahead of the competition. Other models have PDA-like features, requiring the user to use a special pointer to get things done. But still, a keypad is necessary to do texting or to key in reminders and stuff.

But things are going to get a lot different thanks to Apple’s new iPhone. Yeah Apple seems to have a knack at being always innovative and it seems that it doesn’t want to tarnish its image of always getting ahead of the pack. So what’s special about this iPhone here? Well, to set the record straight, this is the first phone that I know that doesn’t have a keypad at all whatsoever. Yeah iPhone makes use of all the space on your candy bar phone by putting in a large screen in willfull abandon. So how do you key in text without a keypad? Well, Apple has news for you dude: Use your fingers, baby!
A few notes from Apple:
iPhone combines three products - a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers.
